VBS 마지막 주를 보내며

먼저 이번 여름 Hana Mission VBS를 위해 함께 섬겨 주신 Bethany BYG, Grace River Church, William & Mary, UVA 학생들, 그리고 마지막 주를 함께하고 있는 Northshore Community Church에 진심으로 감사드립니다. 주님을 향한 여러분의 헌신과 패터슨 지역의 어린이들을 향한 사랑과 섬김에 깊이 감사드립니다.

여러 교회와 대학 캠퍼스에서 찾아와 주신 봉사팀의 도움이 없었다면 이번 VBS는 가능하지 않았을 것입니다. 이제 마지막 3일을 남겨 두고 있습니다. 돌아보면 하나님께서 어린이들뿐 아니라 함께 섬긴 모든 봉사자들에게도 참으로 풍성한 은혜와 기쁨을 허락해 주셨음을 고백하게 됩니다.

특별히 우리 아이들을 위해 기꺼이 가정을 열어 주시고 정성스럽게 점심을 준비해 주신 분들께도 감사드립니다. 작은 아이들에게 베풀어 주신 그 사랑과 섬김을 주님께서 기억하시고 하늘의 풍성한 상급으로 갚아 주시기를 기도합니다.

예수님께서는 마태복음 18장 5절에서 말씀하셨습니다.

“또 누구든지 내 이름으로 이런 어린아이 하나를 영접하면 곧 나를 영접함이니.”

이번 여름의 풍성한 은혜에 감사하면서도 제 마음에 한 가지 기도 제목이 생겼습니다. 앞으로는 어린이 사역을 지속적으로 함께할 수 있는 몇 명의 스태프가 세워지는 것입니다.

매주 새로운 교회와 봉사자들이 찾아와 아이들을 사랑으로 섬겨 주신 것은 정말 큰 축복이었습니다. 그러나 한편으로는 아이들이 매주 새로운 얼굴을 만나고 다시 적응해야 하는 어려움도 있었습니다. 아이들과 봉사자들이 서로 친해지고 마음을 열기 시작할 때쯤이면 어느새 작별해야 할 시간이 찾아오곤 했습니다.

현재로서는 풀타임 스태프를 둘 수 있는 재정적인 여건이 아직 마련되지 않았지만, 내년 여름에는 하나님께서 필요한 사람과 재정을 허락해 주셔서, 몇 명이라도 VBS 기간 동안 처음부터 마지막까지 아이들과 함께하며 지속적인 관계를 만들어 갈 수 있기를 기도합니다. 그렇게 된다면 더 많은 아이들이 더욱 안정된 환경 속에서 하나님의 사랑을 경험할 수 있으리라 믿습니다.

함께 기도해 주세요

1. Hana Mission에 더 넓은 공간이 필요합니다.기증받은 의류를 분류하고 보관할 공간이 부족하고, thrift store를 위한 판매 공간도 더 필요합니다. 하나님께서 우리의 필요에 맞는 좋은 공간을 허락해 주시기를 기도해 주십시오.

2. Paterson 시와 진행 중인 절차를 위해 기도해 주세요.아직 Paterson 시로부터 hearing 일정에 대한 연락을 받지 못하고 있습니다. 필요한 절차가 지체되지 않고 순조롭게 진행될 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

3. 더 많은 봉사자들이 필요합니다.방과 후 프로그램과 thrift store, 그리고 어린이 사역을 함께 섬길 손길이 더 필요합니다. 하나님께서 기쁨으로 자신의 시간과 재능을 나눌 분들을 보내 주셔서 이 사역들이 지속적으로 이어질 수 있도록 기도해 주십시오.

Hana Mission과 우리가 섬기는 어린이들, 그리고 그 가정들을 위해 늘 함께 기도해 주셔서 진심으로 감사드립니다.

이번 여름, 각자의 자리에서 기도와 섬김과 사랑으로 VBS를 가능하게 해 주신 모든 분들 위에 주님의 풍성한 은혜와 축복이 함께하시기를 기도합니다.

Northshore Community Church and Paterson Kids

The Last Week Is Here!

Thank you to Bethany BYG, Grace River Church, William & Mary, UVA students, and lastly Northshore Community Church for your dedication and service to the Lord and to the children of the Paterson community!

Hana Mission VBS would not have been possible without the churches and groups from college campuses who came alongside us. We have three more days to go, and God has been blessing us abundantly—both the children and the volunteers.

Also, many thanks to those who opened their homes to our children and generously provided wonderful lunches for them. May the Lord remember their loving offerings to these little ones, and may their reward in heaven be great.

Jesus said in Matthew 18:5:

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.”

While I am filled with gratitude for the blessings of the Holy Spirit, there is one thing I continue to pray for: a few full-time staff members for our children’s ministry.

It has been a tremendous blessing to have so many volunteers, churches, and college students serving with us. At the same time, it has been a little difficult for the children to adjust to new faces each week. By the time the children and volunteers became close and comfortable with one another, it was already time to say goodbye.

Please pray that next year’s VBS will be able to provide more continuity so that even more children can experience lasting relationships and greater blessings.

Prayer Requests

1. More space for Hana Mission We need additional space to sort donated clothing as well as more retail space for our thrift ministry.

2. Progress with the City of Paterson We are still waiting to hear from the City regarding the hearing schedule. Please pray that the process will move forward smoothly.

3. More Volunteers: We need more volunteers for our after-school program, thrift stores, and children’s ministry. We pray that God will send willing hearts to serve alongside us and help us continue these ministries.
