My cat woke me up 고양이가 저를 깨웠습니다.

It was about 230am in the morning.

My cat was crying at the door relentlessly. Although I was half asleep I knew why this cat was bothering my sleep: Her bowl was empty and crying for food.

Prov 12:10 states "The righteous care for the needs of their animals". How much more we should care of fellow mankind!!

Nevertheless, under the Trump administraion it seems USA is turning our eyes away from the poor. Is it only me that agrees with a news headline from Bloomberg "Trump Budget Plan Declares War on ‘War on Poverty’ Programs"? Please read CNN report http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/16/opinions/worst-of-trump-budget-black-opinion/index.html. Accorinding to this article there will be elimnation of many services to the poor and one of them is "The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, which provides financial assistance for poor college students". Unless Mr. Trump has alternative plan for these students college dream will be even more difficult for urban students such as children from Paterson.

Please pray for this administration not to proceed with the proposal of Mr. Trump's 2018 budget. If it does America will hear cries from the people, especially from those who are poor and needy. Proverbs 28:27 speaks out loud "Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses".

Blessed are you who are poor, for yours in the kingdom of God (Lk 6:20)

We understand that the essence of this passage is not being poor in this world.

However, we may justify its meaning with sharing the burden of poor so we may inherit the kingdome of God.

주인이 단잠을 자는데 아랑곳없이 밥 달라고 울어댑니다.

전도서 12:10에 의인은 자기 가축의 필요를 채워준다고 하였습니다. 하물며 사람의 필요를 외면하는 자가 의인이 될수는 없겠지요.

그럼에도 불구하고 트럼프 정부는 2018년 예산에서 가난한 자에게 필요한 예산을 대폭 축소하고자 일을 추진하고 있습니다.

CNN 기사에 따르면 예산 삭감에 포함된 프로그램 중에는 저소득층 어머니에게 제공되던 WIC 프로그램, 저소득층이나 장애우에게 제공되던 Meals on Wheels 등 다수가 있습니다. 그런데 그 중 제일 안타까운것은 저소득층 아이들에게 제공되던 대학 학자금 지원 프로그램이 없어진다는 일입니다.

미국 대도시의 그림자 속에서 빈민으로 사는것도 서러운데 패터슨처럼 저소득층 아이들이 대학에 진학하는 일이 더욱 어려워 진다는 말이지요.

잠언 잠 28:27에 "가난한 자를 구제하는 자는 궁핍하지 아니하려니와 못 본 체하는 자에게는 저주가 크리라" 말하고 있습니다.

미국 땅에 하나님의 축복이 아닌 저주가 찾아온다면 그것은 우리 모두의 불행입니다.

이를 막기 위해서 여러분께서 함께 2018년 프럼프 정부의 예산이 관철되지 않도록 기도해주시기 바랍니다.

우리는 조금 덜 먹고 덜 쓰더라도 우리의 이웃을 위하여 사는 그리스도인이 되어야 할 것 입니다.

예수께서 말씀하셨습니다.

너희 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 하나님의 나라가 너희 것임이요.

예수님께서 우리에게 가난하라고 명하시는 말씀은 아니더라도 우리는 이 말씀을 통하여

가난한 자의 고통을 함께 감당하는 의인이 되어 하나님의 나라를 소유하는 천국 백성이 되기를 기도 하여야 할것입니다.
